Why are regular check-ins with ourselves important?

  1. You are building and strengthening a connection with yourself.

  2. You can understand yourself better.

  3. You are practicing self-compassion and self-love.

  4. You are mitigating your current negative emotional state (if any) and avoiding possibility of repressing feelings.

  5. You are reconstructing your mind to look forward to something for the day and/or be appreciative of simple things you enjoyed doing in the day.

You can check-in with yourself by two different ways —speak it aloud with/without recording yourself or you can also write journal entries about it.

Questions you can ask yourself when doing check-ins.

  1. What am I feeling right now? Rate how intense it is, on the scale of 1 to 10.

  2. Why am I feeling this way?

  3. (If it is negative) What is one simple thing I can do to relieve this feeling right now?

  4. (Morning) What is one simple thing I'm looking forward to today?

  5. (Night) What is one simple thing I feel happy doing today?

After you're done, you can also say or write, "Thank you for kindly checking-in with me today." to yourself and start asking these simple questions regularly —daily or weekly. This simple act can truly change your life for the long-term. Remember, you can always tweak and adjust the questions to your best interest.

You are worthy.

—Later, love!
